You’re new, excited and ready to take on the world. Training has taught you to get up early, be ready to call the harried Moms by 9am. Kids are off to school, dad to work and Mom is pouring that first cup of coffee. It is her time to relax. Time to knock on her need for a little conversation, adult-style, present your business opportunity.

Six months later, maybe it is easy to count your distributors on one hand; you are tired and dispirited then you read the message.

“The old school sales routine of cold-calling leads, holding meetings, knocking on doors and trying to “convince” people to look at your opportunity is DEAD.”

As the shock wears off, the realization of being forced to recruit every day for the lifespan of your business, is not even combating the steady attrition rate they promised you never existed.

Taking a second look at your mentor, you notice people steadily knocking on the door, calling on the phone, ready to join . Why? What is so different in their marketing strategy?

Behind the canned laughter that rings through your brain, comes the old adage, position is everything. Right, they are the boss, you are not. The results sting your confidence. You heard the key word ‘position,’ but misread its meaning.

HIS position. HER position. And where is your position? Bosses made it because they created position. Sheeples work forever for bosses because they do not get the message.

Listen up to their actions, their words … EVERY motion is about the company and its great products. You do that too, very well, but why are the results different for you?

They mix their history in with that of the company. Getting started, the frustration, the hard work, long hours. They survived it all! Just like the company, they built who they were right along with the products they talk about to the new person.

They weave a story that includes their part to a hungry prospect with a dream to make it happen exactly like they did. So who will the prospect follow to get a chance at that dream?

While you are busy talking to the wind, calling every shadow and waiting and wondering, they are doing. Never a cold call. Lots of follow ups to see how their people are doing but never a cold call.

In today’s crazy world of the Internet, it is time to come in out of the old and stop handing your hard prospecting work to people who understand the power of positioning themselves to a savvy market. Get and keep them on your team. Develop a story line that introduces you to them all the time, every time.

    Best part of that is, that is how to stop being a “Sheeple”. Most of society these days will laugh at the word “Sheeple” until they finally get the true meaning behind the word. Then, they will usually get upset by it.

      great insights Rudy! I really hate terms like ‘sheeples’ but sometimes
      it has to hurt a bit to get people to bite the bullet, stand up and
      be counted.

      The first true step is to learn to think. So pleased you caught that.
      Been a real thorn in my side for so long lol wondering what I have to
      do to get people to speak up!
